Caterham v Tiger

I live just up the road from Caterhams build factory. I often see the boys taking the cars out for test drives etc. No matter how often I see them, I really can't see how they differ in shape/ design from a Tiger. I know they are engineered differently ,...does anyone else have trouble telling them apart or is it just me being dense ?

"just like that !"

Well IMHO the Caterham is a well developed car which means that if you build one, all the problems with components and fitting them have previously been solved and documented by Caterhams engineers. They have custom made parts specifically designed for the vehicle. You will be able to ring them and order parts off the shelf to suit your particular car. The company can advise you on car set ups for different applications etc etc

Building a Tiger/MK/Locost/whatever you have to a greater or lesser degree have to solve a lot of problems yourself, the kit itself may not be as well engineered and tend to use donor parts from existing cars which can lead to compromise in performance and handling.

The upshot is, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for

ps I don't have trouble telling them apart both the tiger and the caterham look quite distinctive to me

I can tell them apart!
But like Mark says - you get what you pay for.
Things don't get better than the real thing though!!!

When i was new to the kitcar world, only just over a year ago. I couldnt see much difference. When you see a tiger (or similar) up close you will soon see the differences. Even more so if you see them together. Caterhams are surpisingly small too. I think the newer ones look the best out of all the 7s/7 lookalikes.
