Another tapping issue with a Pinto
I have had this problem for quite a while, there is a noticeable tapping noise from the engine bay when the engine is under load.
I would say it sounds like regular knocking but I'm really not sure what would cause it but ut sounds like it is rom the engine itself.
It happens when hot or cold and at all revs when the engine is under load. When off the accelerator or idling there is no noise at all.
The car has a Kent Fast Road Cam and bike carbs.
Any ideas as to what I can check to get this sorted, I am going to Nurburg in November so trying to ensure it is top notch before I leave!

could be bearings or piston slap if internal to engine.
If not internal to engine possibly something hitting the chassis or fouling somewhere?
I'm only in Harrogate if you would like a second opinion - not an expert but I've had a few engines with faults in the past.
Cheers
Mark

How long has it been there. It could be the valve springs boxing it the cam has been fitted onto standard springs.

I had a tapping noise coming from a old crossflow engine, turned out to be a mixture of blown exhaust gasket and exhaust sitting in the chassis.

hmm, some interesting things to look at here. I will investigate more for something like alternator belt slapping. Mookaloid, I might need to take you
up on your offer!
It occurs even at the slightest of touches on the accelerator in any gear.
