Alternative windscreen

Has anyone fitted an alternative windscreen to their avon?

The reason I ask is that I'm not a midget!

Hi Graham,

I saw an Avon fitted with a much taller screen fitted at Donny last year. (obviously, to overcome the problem of the top of the standard screen being right in your eyeline.)
But, to be honest, IMO it looked pants. It just didn't look right when you consider the low lines of the Avon.
Apart from the issues at SVA, this is another reason I'm going to go with an aeroscreen and goggles/bike helmet on mine!

Andy,

I have a aeroscreen fitted at the moment, but I want to do some hill climbing next year, and to be in the road-going class you need a windscreen, and preferably one you can see through!

I remember when 'Which Kit?' did the Avon build last year, they made reference to the fact that the top of the screen obscures your vision and that an alternative, taller screen is available.
Didn't say where from, though.
Might be worth ringing Sue at Tiger to see if she can throw any light on this....?(or it might just be 'Which Kit?' talking bo....cks!)

I read that article, I think it said Tiger could do one

The red avon at donny last year was without a doubt the best built Avon I have seen so far (apologies to any other avon owners....)

for the high screen the builder requested an extra long frame from Tiger and got a screen cut to match.

I took a few pics so I will try to post them later so you can judge for yourself how it looks.

Graham,
When you say you have to have a windscreen, does it have to be a full screen and hence have wipers etc?
Just a thought..but Iwondered if the term 'windscreen' is open to interpretation and you could get away with fitting the 'Brooklands' type screens.
(As in those fitted to the Avon in your post titled 'Purple Avon' on p10 of this forum! - Sorry, don't know how to transfer the photo from there to here!.)
After all, many classic road going cars used this type of screen!

nice avons

did anyone see the red avon at Tiger's open day a couple of years ago ? I think that tiger bought it from the customer who built it. That was very tasty with a few unique features if I remember right .
