Steering Shaft

Offered the Tiger steering shaft up to the car at the weekend and the spherical bearing/rose joint isn't in the right place. Should this be free to move up and down the shaft so that it ligns up with the bracket on the chassis? The rose joint on mine doesn't move?

It should slide freely on the shaft, sure its not just a bit stuck and in need of 'persuasion' ?

Yes is should slide up and down, but is a very close tollerant fit (good for Tiger).
Grease the shaft (ooo err) and gently persuade it!
