Its a bit stiff ooerr!

I have had my Avon on the road 3 or 4 times since it was registered back in December.

I have noticed when driving that the steering becomes progressivly stiff when cornering. It is very disconcerting at small corrections become dificult mid bend! at low speeds there is no problem.

I am running 195 tyres - Yoko Advan AVS Sports.

Wrong Tyres? Pressures? Steering Geo?

Thanks

Stu.

Strange

I had a similar sounding problem with a fiesta. Ended up stripping the rack, couldn't see anything wrong with it but the problem went away. A bit disconcerting

Same with my Clio diesel, went away with new tyres, but has now come back again - strange sensation, feels like the steering has locked up, just when you're expecting understeer.

Have you checked the UJ's on the steering linkage ?

Only thing is, this would also cause the problem at slow speeds, but worth a look any way.

Had this with a Fiesta a few years ago.
Lubing the pinion where the spline entered the rack cured it.

I also had it with a Fiesta. Changed the UJ and it cleared.
