fuel injection or carbs? !!

I need some advice please with engine details. What's the better option in the general, carbreter or fuel injection? I was informed one of them is a lot more money altho u get a better sound and maybe 10/ 15 bhp more... is this true, is that the only difference?

I'm also aware that one of the two options requires you to cut out a hole in the body.. I think this is the fuel injection route.

Basically, im trying to decide what route to take..

thank you.

According to Burtons the BHP of the Zetec is pretty much the same whether you fit carbs, or PI. Chippy

i guess it depends on what u think u can manage! carbs are fairly simple to use and set up, though they do have problems assciated with them! they also require tuning etc.

fuel injection if ur doing it the locost way is more complex electronically as well as in the fuel system require fuel returns and high pressure pumps etc. and people who don't understand electronics will find it harder to set up a megasquirt system for example.

personally i would prob use fuel injection on a modern engine, and carbs on a older engine. however i was planning to FI my v4 til i decided to shoehorn an zetec in!

in this forum there is plenty of support for what ever method u go with so good luck with ur project!

Ona aZetec?
No contest.
Fuel Inj every time.

+ points:

Increased power.
Increased fuel economy.
Fit and forget (once set up.)
Similar cost to twin carbs.
Much more reliable.

- points.

Can be a steep learning curve (if you have been brought up on carbs)

In an enclosed car like a middy, carbs often allow the petrol fumes to be a bit of a problem (ask any Ultima driver) so it's fuel injection for me every time.

Definitely injection, costly but much better economy, power & most of all smooth running.

I too have had both, the weber alpha kit carb kit first on my zetec then I switched to gsxr throttle bodies on megasquirt. Absolutly no contest. Injection ever time. Now on single throttle body with supercharger thats better still.

fuel injection is probably a little more work to install initially, but worth it.
