Cat E1 / Super cat chassis....any good ?

Ok - I tried posting this in the chassis forum but got nowhere... so apologies before I start for the double posting......

Has anybody got any experience of the tiger cat E1 / super cat?
Is the chassis build quality any better than the Avon?
Is the rear suspension a problem for handling ?
Are the Engine options more restricted?
And the big question - does it have more legroom than an Avon?

I have been busy planning my Avon build and now realise that legroom is a problem so I am trying to find an alternative......

Cheers

I have absolutly no idea about the cat, but get in touch with the tiger owners club somehow, they had loads at Stoneleigh.

I built a SuperCat before building the ST so in answer to your first question: Yes lots of experience.

I would imagine the build quality of the chassis is the same as they are both made by the same people.

I don't think the rear suspension is a massive problem for handling but I'm sure it doesn't help.
It is a big weight issue though as it not only uses the sierra trailing arms but the large cross member / tube that they attach to.

I think the engine options are quite simmilar, though with more or less engineering, the options are probably pretty much identical.

Can't tell you if it's got more legroom than an avon but I'm ~6'3" and with a bit of thought while building was able to comfortably fit in it. I wouldn't be surprised though if with simmilar thought while building there could be just as much room.

There's a tiger yahoo-group (mailing list) full of helpfull people and a wealth of experience on:

Cheers,
Ben

Have you tried looking at the MK Indy or any of the Luego kits?

All I hear here is people slagging off Tiger (both the kit and the after-sales service) whilst all you here from MK and Luego customers is compliments. (or at least 99.9% of the time)

If I recall correctly the Tiger is more money too...

Good Luck!

James
