steering column!

Hi everyone,
well i have encountered my first problem! i offered up the steering column in the avon built chassis today and found that the little tube for the bottom column bush dosent line up with the top mounts! (im not actualy surprised tho!).
Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?? i supose the only thing is to cut the weld and move the tube, why should i have to do this when i baught a chassis that said, and i quote, 'fully finished with all brackets fitted and all fixing holes pre-drilled - NO WELDING REQUIRED'.
I am a crap welder and paid money for a pre made item so that i would'nt have to weld!
I have a horrible feeling that this is not the first of my problems, any sensible advice on this matter would be greatly apreciated.

Dave.

I've had to move mine. Not because it didn't line up, but because my starter motor is on the drivers side of the car, and there was very little clearance.

Nothing for it but Tiger tool no. 1 (Mr A. Grinder)

I have seen this problem come a couple of times on here. Try searching through, I'm sure that it is covered in one of these threads....

it doesn't need any welding as long as you never intend building it.
have a look on http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/tigerracing/ for what youv'e yet to find.

Tried my column for the first time today and low and behold it fits. The wish bones also fitted with some minor mods with a hammer. So far so good
