rear brake help!!
Hi everyone,
made some more holes tonight to feed the brakes through the rear seat panelling but somethings up..
for starters the holes I've created through the panelling dont really align with the chassis hoops.
am i going mad!?

Junk the Sierra back end and put in a capri, cortina or escort axle then the cables will hit the pick up points on the chassis! looks like an oopsy by
Tiger!
Try and get into the tunnel around the side of the diff you will still have to reposition the handbrake and the cable pick up point further forward
otherwise you will need to create a taller tunnel at the back!

PS handbrake was the worst part of my build and part of first SVA fail!

i cant make the holes lower than what they are as the chassis gets in the way (see second photo). if your saying feed the cables through the panel,
below the chassis bar then i will have the opposite problem, i.e. the cables coming through the panel (using the holes that I create) will surely be
too low....???

problem is you have routed the brake line along the top of the chassis rail... the brake cables sit on the chassis rail and then 'just
about' fit into the 2 tubes....
Personally i ran the brake line along the back of the cahssis rail to clear the cables but then had to dress the diff casing back a bit to ensure
adequate clearance....
generally you need to build up the back of the tunnel top as well because the cables will stand above the line of the side rails.

i see! you actually cut away the entire panel away whereas I currently have a hole, i.e theres a little bit of panelling left below the hole..
i'll have a look tomorrow if cutting the hole down entirely to the chassis bar whether it allows the cable to go through!

As I say, the problem you may run into now is that your brake line runs along the top of the chassis rail and rill probably be in contact with the
handbrake cables....

might give it a go over the next couple of hours, any ideas what tiger does?
must be able to fabric something rather than just lying on the chassis bar.
i'll get a better idea when I can see it on mine..

I did see one builder (can't remember who) who basically cut a piece if steel tube in half to form 2 channels and welded them to the chassis
rail. These act as guides for the cable casing and protect them from chaffing on the edge of the chassis rail. they also protect the brake line
beneath. which is a nicer solution form the engineering point of view....

Mine are similar to yours. I have a picture in my photos. SVA-ing tomorrow so see how it goes. I built up the tunnel to accomodate the handbrake
cables.

I cant see any really close up photos of the tunnel other than the rear head on photo showing the two cables coming out...
think im going to tiger tomorrow to get the exhaust package, will definitely have a good questioning session when im up there..
