Fitting Avon bodytub

I am currently cutting out the tub to fit the chassis, do the side rounded sections [ where you get in] wrap over the round chassis rails? on my car this area of the body looks way too wide to fit, without sqeezing the shell together very firmly and risk more cracks in the already crap body.

My Tub is an inch wider than the chassis, so when i next get some enthusiasm i will cut the bloody thing in half and chop an inch out....

Everone I know had to cut the flap things right back to almost nothing as they are thiner than the round section anyway.
