which starter motor
Hi guys i'm getting conflicting opinions on which starter motor to use when fitting a type 9 gerabox to a 2l zetec using standard clutch &
flywheel some are saying lucas part LRS543 and others lucas part LRS707. can anyone confirm which it is? cheers jamie

when you say standard clutch do you mean 2.0L or 1.8? MHO is you need the 1.8 flywheel for the clutch to fit and work in the type 9 bellhousing.
Sierra 1.8 CVH or DOHC starter works with the 1.8 zetec flywheel.

hi cooser, i've already fitted the engine and box to the car with the 2l flywheel and clutch and clutch works ok, so i'm not sure if that
is correct, all i need is a starter

Have fitted both 2litre and 1.8 litre zetecs both used the Sierra 1.8 CVH / DOHC starter motors no problem.
You do need to modify the sump if you have not already done so. It needs a section cutting out to allow the starter to fit

In my type9 / 1.8 zetec I used sierra starter motor . A couriosity: my starter motor is on the right and in Uk starter motor is on the left.
