GRRR Premier Wiring GRRRR
Just checking my electrics pre-startup SVA seven days and counting. Everything working fine , except the Rinder Headlamps I bought *@# years ago from
Premier Wiring at Stoneleigh show are Continental dip , when I specificly asked him it they were UK spec and he said yes. it's several years ago
now but has anybody else suffered this annoyance?

I think you are refering to the direction of the dip?
If so, turn the arrow on the lense to the 5 past 12 position and your lamps will now pass sva.

I purchased my wiring loom from them and my experience of Alan at Premier is that he is particularly helpful and happy to spend time explaining how
things need to be done.
Have you given him a call about this ?

I agree - Premier are very helpful. I'd be surprised if they had deliberately mislead you.

I'm sorry if I touched a nerve good fellow . I too have experiencesd good service in the past , and am simply venting my frustration at a very
stressfull time in my life . I will indeed ring him this morning to see how to proceed and I have every intention of giving him a chance to rectify
the situation . if you read my initial post it is not an attack in any shape or form merely a statement of the facts , this is not hearsay I know the
facts as stated to be true untill proved otherwise ....I'm stressed ok I read constant critiscism of the DVLA here and they are only doing thier
jobs. Once this is sorted I'll complete this post and it will all be rosey for Premier I'm sure ...

I had some of these, and couldn't get a beam pattern. Didn't wait for SVA and bought a set from SVC. Best thing I ever did, awesome
lights.
PS still have the Rinders (offers?)

I have the 5.75" SVC ones too, they are brilliant

Had a constructive conversation with Premier and he could just remember them . seems I'm best to grind the locating pip of the glass lens and
rotate them a tad as sugested earlier . don't anticipate doing many night rallys so long as it passes the test I'll see how it goes .
Premier are a good company that in this instance "sold a pup stead ova dog" the quality of the shells is fine it's just that they
are continental dip and should not have been sold for uk use. Premier didn't sell them for long but at the time 5 inch lights were in short
suply. He offered to lend me some lights if I couldn't get a decent patern from them . nuf said

I also think they were £25 per pair, which is shells, lenses, bulbs and short harness.
I think you expected too much for your money.
As I said rotate them and they will pass, no grinding necessary.

seem to think they were £40 a pair plus bulbs and there is some grinding or fileing required as they won't rotate without . I always expect to
get what I pay for so I asked and paid for uk dip headlamps . Like I said he's been good enough to give me advice and the offer of further help
I don't have a problem with the guy in general but had he answered my question truthfully I would have bought something else for more money , If
I subsequently have to buy more lamps then that will be very annoying . but as usual when building on a budget sometimes you have to modify but that
does not ever mean I compromise the quality which should be obvious when I reveal the finnished car and estimate the overall outlay

Mine was built very much to a budget, the lights and shocks were the only things I paid full price for. I'm pleased I did and the entire build
came in at less than £1500 including SVA and retest

Can't imagine how you managed it as the only new bits of any consequence I bought were the Shocks/springs, seats , lights etc and tyres .
I'm at roughly £2500- £3000 ata rough guess....wow
in a calmer mood today , struck up my engine for the very first time after I rebuilt it about 13 years ago in the first stages of my build . I have to
admit I cried , so you know how stressed I've been . cheers for your help , have modified the Rinders and fingers crossed they will be ok as
they have a better patern now . all the best

The build was heavily influenced by the scrap Mkll Escort I bought, and the scrap Manta I already had. I didn't have to buy anything mechanical
at all, it was either from these cars or fabricated by me. the only things bought were the plastics, lights and shocks. The nosecone was donated years
ago by MK, the wings were all seconds (30 quid the lot) and the wheels and tyres from a scrap Peugeot 405 Mi16. The build took 3 years, but I can say
"I built that".
I've since spent about £200 on roof material and new carpets, paint and stuff, but still nowhere near what some have spent.
