750mc racing at Cadwell park July 11th & 12th
procomp - 25/6/09 at 08:08 AM

Hi

The next round of the 750Mc is at Cadwell park on July 11th & 12th. - Final instructions added when online -

So come on then who's racing and who's testing. Should be loads of Locosters racing nearly 40 entered at last count. That will hopefully give us heats and finals.
Where's them extra jerry cans i think i will be needing some extra fuel .

Cheers Matt

Yes I`ll be there. We have a caravan at Mablethorpe for all the family, Thurs till Mon. Testing Fri afternoon....... Bang goes the budget!!!!

TMC Motorsport - 25/6/09 at 06:50 PM

We're there!
Campbell is testing, I'm not sure yet, but hopefully get in at least half a day if there is space.

I'm working on the circuit guide, but its the most complex circuit yet so it's taking a while, will post up when it's all uploaded!

Cheers,
Matt

Rob Palin - 25/6/09 at 08:13 PM

I'll be there, hoping to make up for a pretty dismal time at Brands.

pointy - 26/6/09 at 08:01 AM

Rob,

Iv'e just bought a kitten and wondered if you could show it were to pee....Tee hee..

Andy

procomp - 26/6/09 at 08:16 AM

Hi

Well it looks like Cadwell is as popular as ever. No testing from here.

Max have a good look at some of the videos of the track. TMC is putting his video guide up soon. Being your first ever driving experience of cadwell you ll find it much fun. Especially the first corner after the start finish that goes right.

Andy stop taking the wee out of Rob. It.s not somthing that should be laughed at when they stick it in the Kitti litter. I felt sorry for him having to watch the race from the side line so though it only fair i should give him some support and join him.

Cheers Matt

gogs - 26/6/09 at 08:35 AM

Can you please stop distracting Matt, he has very important job to finish if i am to race at Cadwell.

Lets be fair, the only thing that stopped you outbraking yourself into the kitty litter was Vickys rear .

Richd - 26/6/09 at 09:14 AM

By the way. Its official, Heats & Finals - 42 entries so far so get those last minute entries in.

ironside - 26/6/09 at 09:42 AM

I'll be there racing, can't make the testing.

All over my hopes of doing well, seems to be the preferred target at the moment!

I've got to get my act together at the next race though as it could be my last for some time.

I'll put a video of Cadwell up on my site for anyone who's not been there before. It can't do it justice though. You need to experience the place directly to really understand!

pointy - 26/6/09 at 02:55 PM

Rob,

"last race for some time"???????

Hi

Just been looking at this table that some kind people have drawn up. LINK HERE.
It shows LOCOST with an average entry of 30. I think it was compiled earlier in the year but with the numbers rising in locost we must now be in the top 5.

Not only is it THE closest racing in the UK but also has grids that are in the top 5 in the UK also. Gives us somthing to shout about at the Silverstone 10th aniversary bash.

Cheers Matt

Rob Palin - 29/6/09 at 04:50 PM

I think that file is password protected as it wouldn't let me un-hide the columns with the source data in it and I'd really like to see it as I think it's got to be wrong. I've kept the results for every meeting since 2003 and, although I haven't (yet) compiled it in the same format they have, the typical entry is definitely over 30 for us, with up to 51 (Donington '06) and only a couple of instances of 28/29 in the last few years.

Something doesn't add up. We're far more popular than that!

Rob Palin - 29/6/09 at 08:18 PM

So are we just "Anyone else" on the paddock plan?

Richd - 30/6/09 at 06:35 AM

untimed practice session for vees at no extra cost. Can't wait for out turn

Richard Jenkins - 30/6/09 at 08:56 AM

Rob,

The hidden columns are in the 1st worksheet, not the one titled source, and when you unhide them they show the average for Locost was calculated on just 4 races, and it doesn't say which venues these were, or when. Most of the other series are calculated on only 2 or 3 races. Not a good basis to compile a league table I would suggest....

Rich

Robster - 30/6/09 at 09:35 AM

I'll be there testing in the afternoon, having missed the last few races - had to spend the money on new rad and diff refurb (thanks Matt & Ivan) - can't wait to get back in the car

Have I missed something, or have we not been allocated anywhere in the paddock?
Can't imagine we'll be popular parked up on the circuit entry road...

procomp - 30/6/09 at 09:43 AM

Hi

I know some want to change the formula name but come on. The ANYONE championship.

Cheers Matt

pointy - 1/7/09 at 08:13 PM

All,

You must not look at this with a negative slant.
By putting "Anyone" what Robin is saying is this is the friendly area where "anyone" is welcome. Of course other formulas may welcome everyone but we welcome anyone which by definition means everyone. So if anyone can plot up anywhere, everyone and anyone is welcome....I think thats right!!!!!

Of course if anyone wishes to reply to this everyone is welcome to.

Andy P
(Locost Anyone Rep)

procomp - 2/7/09 at 07:02 AM

Hi

Although on second glance the area is clearly marked as OVERFLOW. Now that surely must refer to the good old leaky X/FLOW.

What,s going on with the formula Vee. They have two more drivers than the grid allows and are given a heat unless the numbers drop back to 26. Surely they would normally of just had two reserves.

Cheers Matt

Richd - 2/7/09 at 08:02 AM

I feel the untimed practice and the heat & final may be pay back for making the vees qualify on saturday at Anglesey when they raced twice on the sunday only.

procomp - 2/7/09 at 08:30 AM

Hi

Ahhh yes there where a few not so happy about that.

Cheers Matt

Of Course, I'm sure they would have preferred to race on the saturday afternoon

procomp - 2/7/09 at 10:50 AM

Hi

Yea i bet they where watching the Formula 4's and us and thinking " i wish we where out next" Maybe not. Mind i enjoyed it. Whats Cadwell looking like. Maybe time for a rain dance

Cheers Matt

mlees91 - 2/7/09 at 03:41 PM

no thank you leave the rain dancing out

pumpers - 3/7/09 at 10:01 AM

I've had it ! This season is now over for me. fitted new clutch, serviced carb, engine back in start her up, initially looks fine. Then oily smoke seen coming from oil catch tank breather. Lot's of crank pressure. Compression test all at 110 or there abouts. Looks like my engine needs a rebuild. The budget will stretch to that ( hopefully as long as Matt does me a deal !! but thats my season over as the budget is then gone. So pissed off. giving up motorsport is a serious option.

Anyone want to buy a locost??

Craig ( may be back next year, maybe not ! )

procomp - 6/7/09 at 05:32 PM

HI

Saturday daytime is looking like it will be cloudy. Saturday evening and Sunday are looking like rain.

Ah well it cant be any worse than Anglesey Can it.

Cheers Matt

modee - 6/7/09 at 08:35 PM

BBC showing "heavy rain" for saturday. Should be fun.
Maurice

mlees91 - 7/7/09 at 07:39 AM

my bothers iphone say a 0% chance of rain for the weekend but there is no point in looking until thursday.

also has mark got a engine for cadwell??

procomp - 7/7/09 at 07:58 AM

Hi

Yep Mark has his engine and it should be fitted and running by now. Ray picked it up on Sat morning.

I am all ready to go. Just been watching the wet Anglesey video to get me in the mood so six inches of rain in my seat wont come as a surprise .

Cheers Matt

gogs - 7/7/09 at 09:59 AM

The engine is in and working nicely although i will be running it in during qualifying so will not be setting any blinding lap times.

Rain could improve things though

That will be 2 of us tootling around bedding new engines in then Simon - how about a competition to see who is the slowest

mlees91 - 7/7/09 at 06:06 PM

so it is a 3 way battle for the slowest car then and who is testin friday

procomp - 7/7/09 at 06:20 PM

Hi

What with it being heats at Cadwell I bet there's more than a few who are going to try taking advantage of the extra track time.
Anyone going to guess what time would put you in pole for the heat. A 1.49.5 I reckon. Mind it would help if i was running a lap timer .

Cheers Matt

We seem to have solved most of the new car's riddles this time round.

gib1et - 8/7/09 at 08:28 AM

I'd like to register for associate membership of the engine rebuild club. I've had a go at rebuilding the head on mine for the first time ever. New springs, re-lapped valves, replaced a bent valve, de-carbon etc.

Fingers crossed.

Jason

procomp - 8/7/09 at 08:32 AM

Hi Jason

Did you get a head gasket sorted. Obviously you are using one. I mean the one i recommended.

You have got one fitted haven't you. ( just checking )

Cheers Matt

gib1et - 8/7/09 at 10:55 AM

Matt,

I managed to source a gasket that was exactly the same as the one that came off. I know there were probably cheaper or easier to get hold of options that would do exactly the same job but I just went for consistency.

I even went through all the spare valves I had to make sure I found one that was exactly the same weight as the very slightly bent one that I needed to replace.

Compression is now much improved with all cylinders within 5 psi of each other when cold. It was a bit late to run it up to temp last night so I need to do that, then re-torque the head and finally measure the compression again when hot.

What sort of compression figures should we be aiming for or is that "close to the chest" information?

Cheers

Hi all,

After watching the last race at Mallory last year, we're hoping to come down for the weekend to watch & get some decent photos. Would be great to catch some of the action!

Even tempted to risk the rain for a drive down in the Indy...

See you there,

Francis.

Hi

Mark this getting serious. Taking time of work. Next it will be midweek testing.

It dose make sense and will put Rays mind at rest during qualifying. Darn that's one more i have to try and pass.

Hi

The weather report is looking a lot better if you prefer the sun / dry weather. Well except for Saturday night anyhow.

For those who enjoy the damp / wet racing i may be doing a rain dance sometime tonight. Mind i haven't fully recovered from 8 pints and my attempts at dancing from the previous Saturday. So maybe not then

Cheers Matt
