Why bother with all that when rortys got the dedion down on paper and it works less hassel and less to go wrong
Even with the generous wall thickness of the De Dion tube etc. in my drawings , the De Dion set-up weighs in at just under 22kg whereas the IRS
weighs in at 36kg.
Even the Chavs could comprehend the difference.

I noticed the other day that although Aston Martin now share a floor pan with Jaguar the much more expensive Aston still use de Dion at the rear just as they have done since the early 1950s.
I bet it's not the same one as they were using in the 50's really
I think they have a guy cutting them off old DB models giving them a quick coat of hammerite and stickig them on new Vantages. Trouble is demand exceeds supply so they have to share one axle between 3 cars.
