ive placed it in here because its stuck to my current BEC engines prop adaptor.

Im trying to remove the prop from it as im upgrading the engine and i cant get the thing off. The prop flange is bolted to the adaptor AND then had a nut placed on the remaining threads so it will never vibrate loose. But the nuts are made from cheese and im just rounding them off, i cant get a ring spanner on them either.

Also the angle grinder wont fit so thats out of the question. So i thought that the prop shaft universal joint must come apart but im stuck on that. I have removed the circlips but dont know how to remove the other parts so i can get the engine out and then get the grinder on the bolts so i can rebuild the joint and proceed.

Please help

Old tried & tested method, cut the nuts with a hammer and thin 'sharp' chisel. Its the oldest method of cutting/shaping metal there is.

you can get nut splitters. i've got one, they're not great.... but they can work.

Don't try to split the UJ. It won't work in a restricted place. Have you got a sliding connection in it. If so mark it so you can put it back in the same spline and slide it off. Otherwise split the nuts. Saw, drill or chissle.

Two piece prop, they unbolt in the middle, swine of a job but they do come apart.

But as above, sharp chisel works wonders, cut straight across the nuts flank.

Yes its got a sliding joint on it, i take it i just loosen it up and it will 'easily' slide off when i pull the engine out?

I did look at the hammer a few times. looks like it going to be that then when its off.

ps, york engines got a nice ZX12R engine with everything i need to get it going. Just need to spend a few weeks sorting the wiring loom out

lol no props tim, its still the original engine tho, i just used the spare as a work aid or jig. I will get it out one way or the other.

Yes, should just slide off if I recall correctly (got a bollocking for letting it happen years ago as an apprentice). Make sure to mark it so you can get it back on the same spline after. It might have a blind spline but not garranteed.
