sierra handbrake cable

can the hook end on the sierra cable be heated up to releas it from the cable then be soldered back on.
also where can i get the retaining clips for the outer cable stops.

Not really!

Either take the cable to a boat chandlers and get them to swage an end on, or ask a rac or aa patrol person - they carry the ends round with them for emergency repairs!

It can be done, I did mine, but not with heat as the end piece it crimped on. Tape the end of the inner close to the hook end, if you dont the cable will spring open. Cut the inner close to the hook end, then you will have to drill out the piece of inner that is retained in the end, real PITA job but is do-able. Once you have arrived at the correct length for the cable slide the inner back into the end piece and braze in, solder is not strong enough. HTH Ray
