Headlights on a Zx10 loom

I've been looking at the loom diagram for about an hour now, and cant suss how the headlights are switched. There is only a relay, but what switches on the relay, it looks like when the engine is running the head lights come on automaticly as the relay is connected to the regulator/starting relay, is this right.

Can't comment on the ZX10, but my bike engine was wired so that the headlamps are cut when you start the bike....

Are there seperate relays for main and dipped beams, or left and right hand lights?

Hi, thats sort of how mine wired, it goes through the starting circuit to cut the lights to help turn the engine over, there is only 1 relay for the headlight circuit with a switch to toggle between dipped & main.

Do your head lights come on as soon as the ign is turned on

The bike (Triumph Daytona) has twin headlights. At standard, it is wired such that one side comes on directly through the switch, and the other side comes on switched on via a shared relay. Very strange. I rewired them so that it bypassed the ignition cut-off, and wired the dipped and full beam on seperate relays. As such, my lights do not come on with the ignition - they have to be turned on.

Have you got a digital version of the wiring diagram? I can try to have a look and make sense of it (but I am no electical expert!).

the Ecu turns on the headlamps after the engine starts, If you send Chris (mac1ZR) a u2u he will send a copy of the wiring we have used on his sons and his own looms to allow control of the headlamps from the savage switches
