I use am old plastic bottle held on with cableties at the oil tank end.

Easy to see contents and throwaway ( sorry recycle your honour) when needing cleaning.

I found that tesco do an own make orange juice in a 0.5l rectangular bottle which is easy to fit.

At the engine end the plastic bottles melt - which was fun the first time! I use cyclists aluminium water bottles. Drill a couple of holes through the neck to cabletie it on somewhere and poke the breather through it. They also make them in fancy colours and morrisons were selling two for £3 - Looks v smart

One other tip is upsize the breather pipe and less oil comes through but all the condensate still comes out - dunno why this works it just does another old git told me about it - I use twin 1" breathers

After much head- scratching I ended up using a Flymo mixing bottle from Machine Mart item 051120000 @ £5.51.
The angled neck makes it ideal for bulk-head mounting, jagged cut the centre out of the cap to hold the breather pipe and put 3 holes in the spout top nearest the cap to allow it to breath (or you could add one of those filter jobbie).
Bracket from some flat strip - job done!
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe

Pushbike type ally water bottle and frame holder from Ebay for £10. Fitted to engine bay bulk head. Holes cut for breather pipe entry and vent exit. Total cost of about £12, a couple of hours work and dead easy to remove and empty if required.

Nick, i like that idea. Only thing is it needs to have a capacity of 2 litres for racing regs! If the zx9 lost 2 litres of oil, the catch can would do naff all as there would be a huge hole in the engine with the rest of the oil on the road!!

Twin botle set-up perhaps?
