Hi there!

Hi all!
I have been browsing this forum for a little while now and thought its about time I introduced myself.

This is my first project and its something a little different. I have a 1976 Reliant Kitten that I'm wanting to make into a BEC.
I'm still in the stages of stripping down the old car at the moment however with a little help and guidance I believe I can make this little kitten into something quite special.

Here are a few pics of where I'm up to so far

Thats my brother sat in the car looking like a ghost.

I'm still waiting to get the other 2 mini alloys off a mate of mine.

Check out the after market rear strut brace I found installed in the back

In the process of getting stripped.

Only bit of rot that I have found so far.

Old engine out!

Thats about as far as I have got. I'm hoping to get the body off sometime today and I can start work on the chassis then.

I must say that since I'm on the Isle of Man I don't know of anyone who would be classed as an expert in bike engined cars, only a few people that I know that are good Engineers/Mechanics that can help.

So I'm hoping that you guys will be able to answer the many questions that I will have during the course of the build.

Thanks
Richard

Welcome to the forum Unders,"froggy" on this forum has a lot of experience with bike engined kittens,he has built one with a single bike engine, then with help from Martin Keenan at MK Engineering has just completed a twin engined tl1000 conversion, soon to be fitted with progressive NOS,his is rear engined, chain driven, not sure if your going that direction with yours,or the usual front engined prop drive.
Here's a link to froggys latest post.

And at least your starting off with the correct number of wheels,or this could happen.

That is some Kitten Froggy has there. I thought about chain drive but I fancy keeping it front engined and rear wheel drive for now.

pretty sure the reliant engine is used in a race series of some sort (in a different car) might be worth finding out, and flogging it on the right forum.

So you looked at this car, and you thought "how can i make this better?"

And you thought, "more horsepower!" Which I can't fault.

Reliant, on the other hand, asked the same question and said "i know, lets lose a wheel."

Mad? Brilliant? Still not sure.
