I'm putting the R1 engine in, I'm planning on using the bike clocks, I sold my old dash complete with the clocks and speedo pickup.
(doh!)
What do i need to buy now to get the bike speedo working?
yellow box / speedo healer (which is best)
do I need a pick up? I think I read somewhere the standard one is in the bike gearbox so should work?
if not whats the cheapest / easiest option.
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts
Andy

R1 speedo pick up is in the 'box.
You'll need to correct the reading. "Speedo healer" will do that. I've got a "yellow-box" and it only just corrects
enough on the max setting so go for the "speedo healer".

No worries, R1 5VY has the speedo connection coming off the box, just plug into the loom and then to clocks & you will have a speedo.
Speedohealer will be needed though to correct reading, cost approx £65 squidly.

thanks chaps, someone was offering a V3 yellow box for £30 +p&p, I was going to snap it up but if its going to be close i'll not bother,
Adrian, how close is it, what diff / wheels you using?
It's an '06 R1 with a Freelander diff. It reads about 75mph at a true 70 mph so about the same as a tin-top.

I suppose its quite a complicated thing to work out on paper what % adjustment is required, bike sprockets, bike tyre circumference etc...
I've got a 3.89 diff and 185/60/13 tyres at the mo, money will dictate that that's what its going to hit the road on but I am aware more
rubber and a different diff may be required further down the line.
I've done some calcs and I think I need to adjust by -39.5% ???
