LSD chain diff, oil or grease??
CraigJ - 4/2/09 at 08:30 AM

I'm after advice on what to use in the LSD chain drive I'm building, the last one i made was just a normal for diff so i filled it with grease to keep it lubed up but not sure if i can use the same in the LSD, What have others used in LSD chain diffs??

The diff is from a rover pg1 gearbox.

Thanks Craig

I'm sure grease will totally wreak it as it's got IFRC clutch friction plates inside, I'd just use the exact same oil it was designed for.

Depends on the type, the sierra LSD diff for example has a seperate sealed part which contains the high viscosity LSD fluid, and the differential gears are held in normal oil....

Friction plate type diffs sometimes have special oil...
