Erratic Needle on Clocks
spdpug98 - 23/2/09 at 03:44 PM

We got the loom sorted on my 2003 R1 install yesterday (eventually!) and had the engine turning over

But I have a problem with the clocks, the needle goes very erratic when you switch the ignition on and the just stops anywhere (differant place each time)

It did once do the normal swish around and settle at 0 but since then it just goes mad

Anyone have any ideas

which clock - rev counter / speed, or both?

Should of explained myself

It is the standard R1 clocks and it is the rev counter needle

I know the exup causes funny needle readings although i thought it was only when running. have you got your exup valve fitted or replaced it with a mini circuit faking the exup being there.

The exup is disconnected but I have not wired in the circuit board yet. I will have another play tonight with and without the exup valve

If the Exup is not connected, then it will make the needle go mad.
It should stop when you connect it.
