I'm looking around just in case my exhaust is too loud and found
this
Not as expensive as a new silencer, but might do the trick!
Might it be considered as not permanent?
Can't see why. You can take a silencer off with a spanner so couldn't you say that is not permenant?
Well it looks like it just sits in the end but yes I suppose you could you could knock a clamp of sorts up. Nice idea that could help a few I reckon.
And a lot cheaper than a £180 silencer!
Reminds me of the end pipes on a VW beetle exhaust.. hmmm...
The chrome stick out pipes were part of the exhaust noise reduction.
almost got me wondering if you could pop one inside your pipe .. lol .. perhaps not...
wow.. vw tail pipes are cheap.....

It is a little silencer, albeit mild steel. I made one 5"long and 6" diameter to replace my link pipe. I found it made 5dB difference to just the main silencer alone.
I like the "0-9DbA reduction" bit!
While we are talking about noise limits, I found some info on my Quill T3 can and it has a BSAU stamp on it meaning it is road legal noise wise.
For it to be legal it has to be under 80db, so surely this should be the same noise level on my car or better because of the CAT?
I have a standard airbox so induction noise shouldn't be a problem.

Just done my noise test.....it failed....but not by much.
At idle it was 82 Dba and at 7500rpm it was 102 Dba.
So not much to lose.
Having a standard airbox probably makes all the difference.
There was a guy at Bruntingthorpe last year with a TVR 350T,I could not believe the difference a pair of these made to the noise reduction,it passed
the very strict noise levels no problem.
I think due to length of them they could prove difficult to fit on a seven type silencer, but should be ideal for your car Martin
Sorry Paul, a pair of what? What I suggested?
Cheers Martin
Yes Martin,a pair of those you suggested.
He had one for each tail pipe
Because I only need to loose 2dB I am looking at
this
I've asked if it still allows the emissions probe to go in before I buy it.
DB killers kill power. Better to go for the extra silencer I'd have thought.
