Is there a straight forward list of the best installations of the hayabusa in BECs Or could we decide one!
I was told the new one (don't know numbers/names.dates) can go in with no mods at all.
The turbo ones seem to lose reliability or is there a way around that? Is turboing a post bike mod?
Are there different bores or are they a mod?
Excuse my iggerence but any pointers would be appreciated.
Cheers
Ed
dont know much about the k8 engine so i wont comment on it, although i assume it will not be radically different from earlier ones.
as for teh turbod engines it all depends on how well the work is done in the first place and how hard they are driven. i know a couple of people that
have turbo bikes, one has done 20000 on it with no major problems. he does mostly touring and some straight line racing as well as top speed events.
and the other lad has used it mainly for sprinting and on the road, and hes had nothing but trouble ranging from melted pistons to a bent rod. both
these instalations were done by different companys. the most reliable of the two is a big cc conversion, i wont say who did the other as its alittle
unfair to comment on something that has been riden very hard for most of its life.
if by different bores you mean different capacities these are achieved by fitting a stroker kit with a different crank and pistons. although if you
want to go really silly they can be rebored.
ive found mine to be more than enough for me i cant see anywhere you could really open up a turbo.
one thing to bear in mind the turbo bikes are through the gears so fast , where as the bec will be on boost a lot longer this is where the problems
arise with extra stress on the engine over a prolonged period. i beleive mr fisher had this problem when trying to turbo his previous 10r

Hi All
ok the 2008 busa is exactly same the 99-07 model the output shaft is bigger and the injection and wiring are different
there 1340 cc and nearly 200 bhp
the 08 crank can be fitted into earler models and makes around 1320cc
turbo if its done correctly you can acheve around 300 bhp and as much as 750 bhp all reliable power
also supercharging is the easiest way for more bang for your bucks
cheers
ps 08 busa in today 1100 miles complete wth all gear around £3800
So if I jumped on the band wagon and got a kit suitable for a hayabusa from 99 on, I could fit the K8 engine?
If so I will ring soon Malc, how often do they come in, and who does the superchargers?
Is TTS the way to go?
i was talking to tts at auto sport and there kit looks very good. personally i would go that route a lot more progressive than the turbo route.
is this a serious option if so id love to know how you get on with it

what sort of price is a supercharger kit for a bike engine?
I'll keep you posted Rob, just have to decide what chassis to use now!

It was the TTS one I was considering, but a couple of people have suggested a supercharged R1 may be a better bet??
Note the very important but often overlooked word from
Then consider what else you're gonna need to get it to work and get a price to
include that too.

Yep, I'd agree with Sucksqueezebangblow. If ever there was a suitable bike engine for strapping a supercharger/turbo too, it has to be the Busa.

there has been some talk that the 08 Busa may not be suitable for turboing as it has titainium valves??? Anyone know if ones been done yet?

Spoke to Paul at TTS.
I would have to turn up with a working engine in the car and they would do the installation with intercooler and induction for around 4.5K I would
also have to buy a power commander c£250.
Engine would cost around £3.5
Say £8.5K all in?? A lot of dosh, but it should frighten passengers!
TTS have supercharged quite a few hayabusas but not any K8 ones.
You need to look at the 'package'. You need to look at your intended use. You need to check your pocket depth. You can then proceed.
Quite possible to bolt on a 'charger have some fun on the road/car park/track without too much else. The 'Busa is a good strong lump.
Start adding track days/slicks/other and weak links will show up all over the place. Before you know it, you're into rods, billet clutch baskets,
dry sumping, Nova gearboxes and all that. I know this.
The Carrilo's I've just fitted were reassuringly expensive, the wife's salary for the month will just about cover them.....
All that said, an early 'Busa is now not so expensive as it was, probably viable to treat as a consumable and blow the standard thing to hell
with all the bolt-ons and then get another??
