You will need to go to the local DVLA office to get the paperwork sorted but you should then get the cheaper rate of £115 or so per year.

Did this recently on a fellow member's car with same conversion. Took the car to a pre-arranged MOT and had them confirm the change of engine to Yamaha R1 on letterheaded paper. Took this along with the V5 showing change in engine capacity and engine number to the DVLA local office. I also had the Haynes manual with me to confirm the engine capacity - cant remember if they took a copy of this but if you have one then take it to be sure. You also need to take the insurance and MOT certificate

Was all pretty simple really, they sorted the paperwork in 10 or 15 mins, took the V5 off me along with the cash and gave me the tax disk

cheers for the reply, i've already got the v5 back showing 998cc, the car is insured as 998cc and i have a current mot all be it from before the engine change.

might take it all to the PO see what they say?

Should be fine then at any Post Office.......or you can tax it online and be covered immediately

Have you insured it as a bike engine 998cc. Some insurers don't specifically ask but might refuse to pay out if you claimed and only then they discovered it's a BEC... Worth checking....

Yup told insurer it was a Yamaha R1 engine and he kindly increased the cost for me.
