Pinto power! Get that retro feel....

b16mts - 25/3/09 at 08:56 PM

whoa whoa whoaaa!

pinto is not retro!!! its cutting edge technology that!!

i saw a brand new car that was pinto powered the other day on tv, what was that show called? ..........yeah, "life on mars" that was it.

ultra modern i tell thee

Different engines for different applications. If you want to upgrade in the future, then go for the Busa engine. If you think you'll be happy with the power you have, go for the R1.

Pistonheads is probably the best place for BEC's.

have you seen the mnr vortx? mine too has 5jj R1. the busa will cost an awful lot more to put in than an R1 but its just a case of wether the extra cost is worth it for the busa's extra power and torque.

where do i sign????

fesycresy - 25/3/09 at 09:09 PM

From another angle, if you want to buy a finished car as opposed to building yourself, you'll probably find more R1 MK's than 'busa ones.

I think OX's may have been the first and can only remember a few after that ??

R1's are brilliant (I used one), but you do get used to the power.

If you've got the bucks get a 'busa

This MNR for sale has a ZX12R fitted which gives the same performance as a Busa.

There's also the ZX14 to consider. I think that's more powerful than the busa? Don't think there's a lot of difference in cost though.

sorens2 - 26/3/09 at 06:23 AM

I have tried a R1
And bought a ZX12R.
I would never consider less than 1200 cc.

Essentially the R1 will probably give you the best bang for your bucks so if cost is an issue go for that. The Busa will give you (arguably) the best power and torque. There are other big bike engines that give similar power and torque (ZZR1400) but there are not many aftermarket tuning goodies for them yet. The Busa has been around a long time and is a very popular drag bike and speed record bike so there are masses of aftermarket tuning goodies available for it.

Also consider what type of driving experience you want when you have built your car,the busa's rev alot lower than the modern range of superbike engines, and these new range of superbike engines now all produce around the 170 to 180bhp,and rev to around 14000 rpm ,all the new engines 2006 onwards engines, like the R1's ZX10's etc,can be purchased for less than your average busa engine, they will have done alot less miles, and with there high reving engines, are more fun to drive in my opinion .
