R1 (07) Angle
irvined - 23/4/09 at 07:48 PM

Hello

I'm lining up the engine at the moment, I'm using the top engine mounts and a spirit level to adjust the angle front to back, a set square on the prop adaptor and measurements to check if the output shaft is parallel to the pinion shaft in the diff, but what should I be measuring to know if the engine is at the right angle?

Rob Collingridge used the sump gasket, however the glass window that displays the oil level has min/max markers on it on each side, presumably when the bike is on level ground, these markers are horizontal? If i use a spirit level on those, then the sump gasket is not horizontal, which one should I use to line it up?

Best regards

David

In the bike it sits with the sump base horizontal. Mine (Fury) is mounted like Robs with the gasket face level. Thats just the way they fit best in a Fury and the way The Kit Car Workshop (previous makers of the Fury) recommended. I don't think it's ideal, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. Its not different to a bike riding up a steep hill, although a really long hill. I'm 2500 miles in now incuding 3 track days without problems.
