where can you get dry/shortened sumps from for 2003 r1s?
saw the car up on a ramp and the sumps on the bad side of 2 inches lower than the rest of the car...a wee bit worrying!

I've not seen one. Downside would be a fair drop in oil capacity and you may also need a modified oil pick up pipe etc.

Better option might be to make a sump guard and be very careful around speed bumps or driving on/off pavements etc.

Can't you raise the engine?
Probably cheaper than dry sumping.
I've built the MotaLeira with the sump just slightly higher than the chassis rails.
The engine is not that high so space shouldn't be an issue.

How low is it?

IIRC the lowest point on my sump to the ground isn't much over 100mm, maybe 110 or 120mm and that's before I get in it.

I can still clear speed humps though you just have to be careful or straddle two etc

Even if you do dry sump the engine, it will still hang below the chassis rail - the R1 sump is very shallow compared to most and you will lucky to save much more than an inch by dry sumping.

The problem is that you engine mounts are too low. So rather than spending £1000+ on a dry sump system, just raise the engine by around an inch and you should be OK. You can then add a sump guard to give you peace of mind.
