Just a quickie fellas.
I am about to renew my clutch fiber plates and the steel plates. Some say that you need to leave the plates overnight in oil. The good old Haynes
manual say to just smear some oil to the plates before fitting. How critical is to leave them overnight in oil. Can I just leave them in oil for
couple of hours?
Any advice on that matter?
p.s The engine is a 2003 954 blade.
Cheers.

I've done it a few times and left them in for between 2 hours and 8 hours, and never noticed a difference.
In some cases it is needed to swell the fibre's, especially if they are in a steel plate, hence they dont run dry in the middle and the risk of
comming apart.
For the hassle (or lack of) its a wise move.
Out of interest, what new plates have you gone for? OEM, EBC, Barnett?
Thanks,
Simon
I was told to use genuine Honda for one
and any for other but can not remember
which way round
best to give em as long as you can.. unless really stuck...
obviously same oil as you put in her is best too.....
Thanks all.
I had them in oil since last night. All fitted now but I think I may have a problem??

Its possible that when the clutch cable was fitted and set up that the clutch plates where already wearing thin. Now you have fitted a new clutch the plates will be thicker, so a little adjustment on your cable would'nt surprise me.
