I have a Zx9r engine in my BEC. When the car is sat on the drive and at rest, it is dry, there are no leaks.

However, when it has been for a blat, I get an oil leek from around the sump area (it is difficuilt to tell exactly where as when I have stopped the wind/drag has pushed the oil around the car a bit.

I have a chopped sump, and I used Gasket paper at the time, between the sump and the baffle plate, and I was wondering if when the oil is hot and under pressure it is getting throught the gasket?

Does anyone have any ideas to confirm that this could be the cause, or any other ideas to check before I drop the sump yet again?

I'd just clean the sump with engine cleaner and then rev it fast for a few minutes. The same oil pressures will be generated as if it were on the road.

Saying that the sump gasket should see no difference in the oil pressure as the interior of the sump is vented and does not or should be under any pressure

have run the car on the drive, admittedly, not for a long time, but certainly at nomal op temps and there was nothing dripping.

Could it be blowing out the sump vent? Piston oil seal failure leading to it blowing out the exhaust (note, you may not detect this with a compression test - when I had this prblem on my subaru the cylinder pressure wil perfect, but I was using a litre of oil every 400 miles) or piston ring pressure seal failing - blowing oil out of crank vent?

When cornering the oil will slop around inside the sump - on a bike you lean and the oil stays at the bottom of the sump - could this be leading to oil getting somewher it shouldnt?

Hugh, thanks for teh ideas,

the breather vent, is on the top of the engine, I think, so do not believe it could be this.

The sump is baffled, so all the oil is kept in the sump during cornereing, braking and acceleration.
