hi all, just wondering if the yamaha FJ1200 engine was any good for a bec? seems like a good idea due to its size and cheapness, but no one seems to use it!

any ideas?

It's very popular for Baby Grand and Legends cars over in the states.

They're a bit thin on the ground and expensive over here because of that.

You end up paying low mileage fireblade money for knackered 10 year old FJ1200's in need of rebuild.

If you've got a good one though they're supposed to be the danglies.

Cheers, Ted

fj1200 is used in the legend race cars here in the uk, as ted said they can be a little expensive. they can suffer with oil pressure problems, so really not the best option when you could use the tried and well tested fireblade engine, thats unless you have an fj engine laying around or can get one cheap.
the fj hasn't been a popular choice for a road car.

its just there are a pair on ebay, and being a foolish dreamer i want to get a pair of bike engines

around 250 and 150 each, but as you say they might be a bit old. just checked, they're both 1989 engines...

thanks anyway!
