Now that I have got the SVA out of the way, I am getting underway with my post SVA changes

As the R1 has no oil pressure warning/guage I am looking at fitting one, is there an easy way to fit one or is it major work

I have a spare Racetech oil pressure/water temperature gauge from my old race car sitting on the shelf so would like to use that

There's a plug in either end of the block oil gallery. Thats where Yamaha check the presure. You just need an adapter to screw in whichever end is most convienient for you. Do a search for the thread size; Durite make adapters that fit
Alternativly you can drill and tap the oit cooler bolt.

Gallery plug is M16x1.5. Durite kit is Part No 0-523-98. Its a set of 3 (1/8th NPTF to M14, M16, M18.)

I drilled and tapped the oil cooler bolt and used a Racetech Oil Pressure Gauge.

Hi Dave, good to hear the sva is out the way. i also went for the oil cooler bolt. it was a bit tricky to tap to 1/8npt but tightens up very snuggly and reads perfect with an electic gauge. I think you need one that measures upto 10bar.

I used a sandwich plate from thinkauto to go between the block and the filter. It has two fitting ports for temperature and pressure if you want both.

sorry to hijack but if you used the block plug to measure oil temp rather than pressure would the sender be reading just oil temp or be influenced by the block temp? or is it all the same
