My starter motor is knackered, its a ZX9R C1 model, has anyone got one or know what other starters will fit, I am fairly sure that they are the same on E models, also ZX10R look the same as do ZX12R, there are some 10s and 12s on ebay but no 9s.
I knackered the starter by spinning the car at Cadwell last week, obviously went backwards, didnt dip the clutch so must have spun the starter backwards , comutator smashed to bits, engine fine , bump started it and did some more laps !

No 9's on ebay? are you kidding, there are tons of them from around £25.

Or if you can be bothered coming up to leeds iv'e got one you can have for the same money.

went to Cadwell last month with ZX9 powered locost - let a friend take it round, next thing red flag and everyone returns but him. tells me arse end locked exiting corner, suspecting the usual culprit of box failure i stripped the bottom end. Guess what bugger all wrong with it ! but starter is exactly as you describe.
found two starters locally -1 plus a spare. cheapest on fleabay was 50 quid, i bought two for less than that. Good job since gaskets & oil didn' leave much change out of 150.
