Newbie saying hi!
franky - 12/7/09 at 04:49 PM

Hi all,

First of all sorry for all the questions!

I've brought an unfinished fisher fury with a zx9 engine. its about 50% done. all bodywork is there and its only costing me £3k... which is good with the 8k worth of reciepts as its all new parts.

Although i'm thinking of putting a zx12r engine in during the build to save doing it at a later date.

Also i've a tl1000r v-twin engine... has anyone used a v twin in a BEC? i was thinking they'd be good as they make more power and torque rev for rev than a 4.

Its fitted with full adjustable AVO suspension, does anyone else run these? how much would they have cost?

This is a pics of it at the minute. think its worth 3k???

Welcome to mad house, I think 3k is a fair / good price especially as you have the receipts to prove it!

Clairetoo has fury on here and think there maybe a couple more lurking around.

Looking good and enjoy the ride!!

Take care

Rich

I always wanted a Fury and love the shape, but one wouldn't fit up my drive.

where about are you fella? put your location in your profile so we can see where you are.

i am another fury fan, maybe i will make one in the future

welcome to the nut house!

Cracking deal.

AVO shocks are expensive, and i would expect a bill of around £400 or £500 to replace.

I had a TL1000R bike and the power is fantastic. Its hard work to ride, but very addictive. Lovely sound too.
I would suspect that to put this in a car would be just as addictive, but i would make the exhausts sensible in terms of noise, and keep the weight as close to <500KG as possible to gain maximum advantages from the engine.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

There is some very useful information here, and even discussions.
Try and search the topics before asking a question though. Quite often, an answer is already there waiting to be dug out from the archives.

Good Luck.

Don't know anything about the Fury apart from 'I want to build one' but welcome to the club

JekRankin - 12/7/09 at 05:16 PM

Welcome!

Excellent deal you got there! £3K would barely buy you the bare bones chassis pack from the factory!

I kind of wish I'd went down the part built route myself, it looks like a good way to save a lot of money on the build cost - and you don't have to wait a couple of months for your chassis to be manufactured either!

Stuart_B - 12/7/09 at 05:24 PM

welcome, that is a nice car.

good luck with the build

jpindy3 - 12/7/09 at 05:31 PM

welcome,

thats very clean,
is the engine a rebuild
i see that for sale not long ago it looks like you got a good deal

franky - 12/7/09 at 05:38 PM

Cheers all. Profile is updated.

I was looking for ages for the right project to come along. I can't afford to build one from new as I priced it up at about £12k for a decent spec, so finding this was ideal as it saves me a whole lot of cash. its good to hear I haven't over paid for it.

Might even just use the engine thats there as it will save me a good load of cash, the engine has been rebuilt. You can eat your dinner off any part of the car.

Just hoping I can get a date of reg plate instead of Q as its not used a donor car.

iscmatt - 12/7/09 at 05:46 PM

i want to build one too, great looking car!!

adithorp - 12/7/09 at 06:01 PM

Welcome to the Fury world. Nice looking kit and a cracking price. It'll be no slouch with the zx9.
If its a post '95 engine your going to need a cat'. You'll also need a reverse for IVA (MNR reverse box looks good). Both are going to add to your costs and worth bearing in mind before you splash out on a zx12.

Lots of knowledge here but worth joining these two groups as well.

Hi,

Engine is a 98 so it will need a cat for the IVA. the lump with the manifold etc should sell for a half decent amount if I go for the 12r engine. I was just thinking i'd prefer to take my time but build the the spec I want instead of changing it all about after a year or so.

Not sure what i'm going to do about the reverse yet as i'll take it off after the IVA.

Steve Hignett - 12/7/09 at 08:52 PM

If you are going to remove the reverse after IVA (which is what I would do) then you want to be building it as simply and cheaply as possible...

As everyone else has said above you have got a bargain...

If it's your first BEC and you haven't even been out in one then I would suggest sticking with the ZX9, it's no slouch, but you will very quickly get bored with the lack of go/grunt...

You may not be able to sell the MANIFOLD and engine package so easily as it may only fit a Fury, and may not fit a Seven (bigger market), but that's quite relative...

Take eccsmk up on his offer - it's a generous one, but you will get used to that sort of generosity on this website - it is very self-less... (his name is Martin)

Follow up on AdiThorp's post in the additional Fury type website's they will prove quite valuable...

There are about 6 or 7 people on here that I know of with Fury's:
AdiThorp
McLannahan
Welderman
Clairetoo

to name but a couple...

Forget about the TL engine but consider the ZX12R pretty carefully ATM...

Hi,

I'm taking him up on the offer. Top bloke

Be interesting to see how it compares to my bike.

I'll have a search around to see what people have done about the reverse issue and the cheapest way of doing it.

Seems like a great forum also.
