Gear Indicator
spdpug98 - 27/7/09 at 08:12 AM

Now that my car is on the road (except for waiting for new clocks) I am looking at getting a gear indicator, can anyone recommend a good and easy to install gear indicator

I am sure there was a thread on this a while back but for some reason I can't find it

Ive just purchased, and fitted a Healtech GIpro (X-type) to my R1 engined car. Couldnt be simpler to configure. Definately recommmended

realign a few wires!

not sure my limited wiring ability would cope with that

These work better with injected engines or Carb ones?

Realign a few wires - that has me worried I had a mate do all the electrics on my car and I don't want to get involved with that

Or do you mean connect a couple of plugs

2003 5PW fi R1 engine

I have a Acumen installed. I had to tap a decent feed for revs as I was unable to locate my ECU revs Tacho wire so we tapped into injector 1. Then t off the prop magnets feed for wheel speed pulses, tapped into the neutral light and then a nice earth and ignition

Works great, although it takes about 15 meters to display the gear after its been selected

Think mine is a Techtronics unit - very easy to fit, plugs into the gear position output from the gearbox, and includes a built in Timing Retard Eliminator to boot.

on the yamaha engine you plug into the speedo sensor with a pigyback y splitter. all you have to wire up yourself is a switched +ve for the power, and splice into the crank sensor which is easy to find. its a cream/natural colour 2 pin plug near the gearbox. you need the grey wire

Just been on the phone to them and will have one on order tomorrow

Thanks for all the input
