HELP.... can you diagnose this?

History.....

Yamaha R1 fitted 350miles ago (3 months).

Today on a 100 mile blat, all is well untill things start playing up...

1... DigiDash speedo/mph display starts reading too low.
2... DigiDash gears diplay flicking between 1 - 6 but seems to read 6 at speeds above 60mph.
3...Gear changes have gone from a precise "clunk" to a slopy sound "clunk", very noticable when stationary for 1st gear.

Any ideas ? ?

Check your charging circuit, should be 13.5 - 14 volts when running, any more the regulator is gone, any less probably the stator windings have gone. Either COULD cause your dash problems.

What about your oil level, if its low it can effect the clutch, the alternator runs in oil too.......

is the dash magnet driven? a magnet could have fallen off.

If this is the case and the rev counter works off speed/rev calculations then its probably been right royally messed up with the speedo not reading right anymore.

Is the gear change cable or rose joint/rod type?

If cable, well cables stretch when first used, then settle down - I'd say 300 miles might count as a breaking in period.

If rose joints, have you checked for slop in the mechanism, maybe an adjuster has undone.

Doesn;t sound anything too serious tbh.

Will check magnets tomorrow.

Gearchange it rose joint/arms... but the sloppy "clunk" seems to be coming from the rear.... come to think of it, it sounds like a "somethings loose clunk" from the rear.
Drive shafts/diff/prop?

On the digidash if the speed is out then the gears and other info would go wonkey. Has the digidash got a memory? Mabe the gear ratios have been forgotten.
I need to check mine so anyone that knows GSXR 1000 K4 I would be greatful ( Thinking this should be a new topic?!)
My rear diff sounds 'slopy' at times.
I have checked the diff oil. Its on the to do list.

my digidash is currently reading a low speed and the gear indicator is wrong, lost a magnet at oulton. it did the same at cadwell so i think i need to find a better way of fixing them than araldite, just not sure how yet.
normal road use they seem to stay on
