Why are motorcycle breakers all crap?
Dangle_kt - 5/9/09 at 10:39 AM

What is it about bike breakers thats makes them either asses or incompitent.

I;ve got Blacks Bike about 2 mins from my mates house, but their attitude stinks.

Hills bikes has just opened in Skem, and i've just been told they just sold my loom to someone else...which I;ve won and paid for off ebay a few days ago.

Grrrrrrrr!

Report them to Ebay

Take them to the small claims court for the cost of a replacement + your wasted time at £60 per hour

Every time I've dealt with blacks its taken 3 goes to get the right bits, R1 alternator windings, they sent R6, then some honda, finally R1, sone injector rubbers they sent GSXR600 when they'd advertised GSXR750.... took a month to sort out.

They have lots of staff who rip bikes apart but cant write well enough to label the parts properly.....

took me six weeks to get my "perfect condition" R1 TBs from blacks because theyd sold them to someone else...oh no wait they hadnt.. they had sold something they never had in the first place... oh no, they hadnt.

When they arrived one of the sliding venturis sticks open. If I hadn't been fixing them all open anyway I'd have flipped!

Blacks used to be ok but their service isn't too great now. Time Machine Bikes 2007 (or something like that) shop name on ebay have been brilliant (but they do specialise in Italian bikes). They even got a part in from another breaker for me to save me dealing with two places. On one occasion I contacted them about something I needed but they didn't have listed but I didn't know what the proper part name was so they emailed a few photos of what they thought matched my description so I could select the correct part.

mediabloke - 5/9/09 at 07:17 PM

These guys were helpful when I was looking around for connectors for my R1 carbs:
Clicky linky
Can't comment on their after-sales, but worth a call to judge for yourself.

just a little update... the replacement loom from deadoralive breakers on ebay turned up today, but to my dismay its knackered - the wires from the main fuse are completely melted bare!

Makes me wonder if my car is ever going to be bloomin fixed!

r1_manx - 11/9/09 at 08:17 AM

I bought a 2003 R1 motor with exhaust, loom, ECU etc...from Malc at Yorkshire engines. He was great to deal with and had the parts shipped over to the Isle of Man on a decent crate and everything seems spot on. I would certainly contact Malc again for any bike bits. Cheers
