I currently have 9 magnets on my prop adapter, at approx 60mph the speedo reads 180mph.

I think this means at 60mph each magnet indicates 20mph, so to get it to read 60mph as it should I only need 3 magnets.

Pretty sure this is right, but I can;t take the car for a spin very easy pre SVA to take one off at a time to check, so anyone with half a brain want to correct my poor maths skills!

180 / 3 = 60 so yep, that should be fine.

As above sounds good but you could leave them all on and just change the calibration swiches if you can, as per the calibration chart supplied with your speedo

What make of speedo do you have?

i think i would have started with an even number of magnets (balance etc) so either 2 or 4, then sort the rest out with the speedo calibration.

however, never mind that as it won't help you now. 3 sound about right.

just a question though, why did you use so many?

**** me, my acewell has one and it well within tolerances, the smiths one has 4 and again was well within, suppose it depends on were you mount them, mine are on the outer joints only had to measure the rolling distance then calculate how many revs of the wheel per mile then enter that number.
