Gear shift lever
Thurbs - 26/9/09 at 10:49 AM

Hi all,
I was wondering i anybody could give me rough dimensions for a gear shift lever and pivot point location. I have access to lathe milling machine etc so should be able to knock something up.
I'm going to use a push pull cable if I can find one for a reasonable price. Seen some on flea bay for about 30 quid which doesn't seem bad especially as I've seen a certain kit manufacturer selling a kit for 150 sheets !!!
Cheers

Thurbs

I've used a simple rod - nice and simple!

Sorry no dimensions but I'm sure you can work them out from the photo.

More in my blog.

Bloody hell, youre really short. How do you see where your going with the steering wheel like that?

i guess the length of it, where the pivot is, and whether the rod/cable attaches above or below the pivot is personal choice. you really need to work out how much throw you want off the lever, whether you want to push or pull to change up, and work it out from there

Yup. All down to personal preference and the length of the crank on the shift mechanism on the engine.... I've got about 5cm total throw at the gearstick which for me is about right...
