It seems my engine was a stolen recovered 3 yrs back and has no engine number on it for the IVA.

I'm advised to find a blown/scrap engine or casing to borrow the number off and re-stamp mine.

I'm posting on the Suzuki forums but not much response.

What year did the GSXR1100 water cooled end production?

Cant afford to change the engine and want to keep it as I keep getting told there fast/powerful and bomb proof.

its illegal to restamp yours if its going to go through sva or be road legal. they will advise you to put it on q plate.

you need to goto a breakers and see if they can help. but be careful restamping a engine is not a good idea.

There is no legal reason to restamp an engine. If yours is legitimate, then you'll have the paperwork to prove it. This paperwork is OK for IVA/DVLA/VOSA/BiB etc...

As far as I can track back previous owners cant find any paperwork, receipts etc.. so no idea.

If you can't get legit' docs for yours then it would be stupid and wasteful not to use the details from a blown engine that's going to be melted down into a washing machine.

Ok, yeah, it may technically be illegal. But there are lots of daft laws around. Why waste a perfectly good engine?

You'd be better off buying a set of crank cases and rebuilding the motor around it. a GSXR1100 lump isn't expensive to buy used either, also they are bomb proof 1250cc big bore kit would give you 150bhp at the wheels

So because its basically illegal then what your saying is using a number off a dead engine is wrong but if I get the dead engine and remove just the part of that engine that has the number on it then somehow that's ok even though actually its still my own engine just with a bit added. Now I can sleep at night because Ive borrowed a piece with a number on.

So... If I grind a chunk of metal off that has the number on and weld it onto mine then I'm ok??? as I didnt stamp it onto mine after all

I wasn't meaning to sound funny.... its a poo situation you're in. Just imagine if that engine number was a chassis number...... Its grey water.


If you buy a set of cases and by some magic it only takes you 10min's with a stamp to rebuild the engine onto the new ones then who's to know

I'm sure you understand what people are saying though? Stamp the engine 123456, get the previous owner of it to write a receipt saying that the engine number is 123456 as its a stolen recovered then everyone's happy.
