To make more room in the engine bay i want to take out the AIS on my 2001 r1 engine, is it as simple as blocking up the 4 exhasut ports and then removing the unit?

Thanks for taking your car off the road Ben. The weather has been quite pleasant since you did. How long are you planning to keep your car off the road?

Yes it is that simple to remove the AIS system, just remove the unit, pipework & plug holes in exhaust ports.

Heres a photo Ben to whet your appetite for the turbo conversion, its my R1 motor a few days ago just before I dropped it back into the car.

As I'm thinking about turboing mine (2003 R1) can you please take a few pics of
. exhaust manifold
. air box

Is your side panel fiber or alu?
Will you fit an intercooler?
