Hi !!!

I've just stripped and rebuilt my reverse box,the main nuts you are on about were worn and one of the threads wee goosed,

Are you getting vibration anywhere ??

I ordered some new ones from Westfield, took 3 weeks to get them cos they didn't have them in stock and they are specially made for the reverse box,

Nylocks wont fit because there aint enough room to get the propshaft on after,i did try !!!

Hows yours for leaks ?? I've tapped the small blow hole and run a small pipe to a catch bottle, still leaks from the seals though !!!!

I just measured my spare one its,

ID = 21 mm
OD = 30mm socket will do the job

This is what they look like if you dont already know,

Hope this helps,

Regards

thank you, thats a great help.
i have movement in the forward shaft so mim ooking to take it off and see if its the nut or bearing.
hopefully the nut will just need a nip up

I had some play on my input flange, thankfully it was the nut

get a big breaker bar on the socket - nip it up.. mine came loose too.

if you still get vibrations (mine does it at high speed) put it down to the westy box.. they are not that good.. seems they wear out very quick. WF want £100 a pop to overhaul them plus pnp

once mine goes ill be looking at the MNR one.. they were selling on ebay for about £485 - but price has gone up now

MNR

seems a good box and half the WF price and more..

Yeah ive also been looking at that MNR Box,

Do you know if it fits in the mounting brackets on the Westy ??

I'm either going to get the MNR box or go the AB Performance electric route !!!

Cheers

By the way whats your diffuser made from ??

The 30mm socket that you have for the Hayabusa output sprocket/flange nut will be a perfect fit.
Tightening up the nut on your WF box may well not 'cure' the problem, just put in hold for a while, then the problem will come back. OK, my experience, your mileage will vary, gobal warming is man made and things in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are. I am a Zillon from the planet Tharg.
Your flange will get it's play back, you'll tighten the nut again, and again, and then the hollow shaft on which it sits will snap. The prop will then try and sever your ankles or slice your buttocks.
You really need to get new flanges to take up the play from the wear in their spines, and/or a new shaft. The bearings will be shot too, so a new set is a good investment, though not long term.

down to bad design, the nuts are both R/H thread so one has the tendancy to undo itself..DOH.., someone wasnt thinking were they. i believe WF are making new ones with R/H & L/H threads but not before most of us have had to suffer
