Fury bodywork removal

Hi, has anyone on here modified their Fury (Spider) so that the bodywork can be quickly and easily removed (and replaced)? I'm considering doing this and would appreciate any advice, warnings etc.

Have a look on here, not sure there are any specific photos of the way that we seperated the scuttle area and the rear tub, but that's what we did...

Hi Leon,

I think its not uncommon for the Fury race cars to have removable bodywork.

Hey, fame at last!

Most of the details of how I did it on my Fury racer are here. There's nothing particularly complicated about making the rear tub removable, although I did make life a little more difficult for myself by making the rear tub pivot clamshell-style (like the bonnet) and by using home-made internal sprung catches.

Essentially, the thing to do is:

1. Get the sidepods in place
2. Nail the scuttle down to the front bulkhead
3. Chop the main tub away from the scuttle
4. Find a way of attaching the main tub to the sidepods

Nothing intrisically difficult about it, although it's fiddly to get everything to line up half-decently on a repeatable basis.

Mine was built that way, but provided the main tub and sidepods aren't bonded together, so they're easy to remove, it shouldn't be too much trouble to do it retrospectively. You'll have to chop away the main tub from the deck above the fuel tank, however, as that's normally bonded onto the main tub if the main tub isn't removable. Messy, but not hard to do.
