Airbox Fixing
mistergrumpy - 25/2/10 at 07:56 PM

I'm going to try and do an airbox like the MNR design, wedge shaped as my first big TIG project once I've sharpened my skill sup a bit more and I find somewhere to buy the ally.
I've seena couple of them fitted on here but I've never understood how they've been secured. Has anyone got one and can they explain a bit more or take a picture of how it's been fitted to the carbs?
Thanks

you can use the carbs airbox rubbers or on mine i have cut the holes the same size as the throttle bodies and pressed them on and siliconed them to make a good seal

Well there's no rubbers fixing the carbs to the airbox. The carb 'trumpets' are screwed onto the carbs and sandwich a plate inbetween them. This plate has a recess all around and the airbox has a lip that sits in it and has 2 rubber bungs in the top so you can place a bolt through and screw it onto the plate. I can't really discard this plate as it has recesses in it to allow air to feed the carbs.
If that all makes sense?

It's a MAC box sorry.
See this thread. Just seen that Matt has been on the site today though he doesn't seem to post anymore.

Not exactly sure how these fit but have a look at the pics below.

I think its a matter iof taking the plate and rubbers of the TB's.
Fit it to the bottom of the air box.
Secure with the 5 screws built in the air box.
Shove it back on the TB's and secure with the original clamps.

Hope this helps.

Ah. Matt you're a star thanks loads.
Unfortunately my carb plate thing is completely different to that so all your past posting make sense now.
I'll have to figure something out.
Thanks again.
