Those of you with carb'd R1's did you remove it before IVA ? I've been told it's best to get rid of it but I thought it was designed to help with emissions so can't understand why you would, especially before IVA. If I do remove it, can the ports be blocked up without tapping a thread? I don't want to remove the head to clean out swarf, etc.
I'd leave them on untill after the sva, cant remember what i did with my r1 but i know i had to put the busa's back on for it to have a
chance of passing the emissions
doesnt it only work if its on a standard exhaust? I ditched mine and did have emissions problems but thats because i was sold an incorrect air box
sensor after that was replaced it was quite easy.
To block it off i stuck some short rubber tubes on the 4 ends and plugged the hole with a few bolts and jubilees.

keep it on till after iva, itll help reduce hydrocarbons.
It works fine on custom exhausts, but itll give you a dodgy reading if you ever dyno it. it does clear up a lot of space on the side of the engine.
when i took mine off i just kept the hoover on the holes when tapping them.
To block the holes tap with a m8 and loads of sticky grease.
The swarf will be blown into the can any way if it gets dropped in.
some copper washers and away you go
Thanks lads.
isnt it m10? on my 03 r1 i had to use that size...
