SUZUKI ENGINES - INCREASED TORQUE MODIFICATION
keithchristie - 3/5/04 at 11:52 AM

If anyone would like to unlock some extra torque from their Suzuki EFI engine and bypass the top-speed restriction on some models (Hayabusa & GSXR1000), I'm offering a service that does just that.

Please see:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Christie-Automotive

The item on ebay is a modification to your gear position sensor, although I can offer a "black box" option for the same price.
(Black box does not have Suzuki OEM connectors, so has to be wired in)

This gives exactly the same results as the other units available costing £50 - £80!!

£5 discount to Locostbuilders members - just let me know your username

Isnt it just a 25p resistor mod to fool the ECU that its in 5th all the time tho?

Hi there,

Not quite that simple, although that is the way it has been done before.

It has a few more components and overcomes the rough idle issues that some Suzuki engines have when you just bung a resistor between the gear position sensor wires.

(the resistors are only 1p each )

Cheers.

Does it disable the resistor when in neutral then? Ive heard the resistor mod occasionally causes rough idle issues, though I thought that could usually be tweaked out with the idle control anyway?

BTW they are probably 25p from Maplins! LOL

Yes, it does disable the resistor in neutral.

Resistor price is of course related to quantity.

Cheers.

There's a fair amount of info on this topic HERE
for the 5th gear thing 6.8kohms is the value not the 15k they have in their diagrams.
Hope it's of interest.

I've just made this mod to my busa engine and the idle is still as smooth as it ever was, didn't realise there could be a lumpiness problem.

I've got a spare 6k8 resister if anybody wants it free of charge, just pm me your address.
