Is this clutch slip?
leemarkadams - 4/4/10 at 06:07 PM

Hello all, just been out in the BEC , first time in about 4 weeks, and have noticed the following:

When really accelerating it will pull away fine, but then sometimes it seems to pause and then go again. If you know what I mean.....it feels mechanical in nature?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lee

Do the revs or engine noise increase when you suspect the slip is happening?

I don't believe then revs or engine noise do increase, it may even be something at the rear diff end???

Could also be fuel starvation due to sloshing...

Clutch slip will feel like wheel spin only without the rear end sliding around. Revs will rise and car not accelerate.

A good way to test is try to pull off with the handbrake on or in 2nd. The engine will rev like you have dipped the clutch back in

I wouldnt try this in a BEC.

Thats the best description of it. If your revs arnt rising then its your engine holding back for some reason. Fuel starvation, misfire?

When my clutch started to slip, under hard acceleration, the revs would jump up to maybe 9000 and stay there until the wheel speed caught up, then the speed and revs would climb to 12000 as usual.
