or do most dealers on ebay pull prices out of the air. got water in the sump pan of my R1 which is looking like seal has gone, so I thought I'd have a look on ebay for water/oil pump average £44 plus p&p managed to get one from a smaller dealer for £18.98 all in and garenteed. although it seems like pump seal I'm not prepared to pay £44 in case it's not the seal but the head gasket and even at yamaha prices I'm sure a seal kit wouldn't be that much

Rant over

eBay is getting more and more the first port of call for people now. People would rather pay over the odds on a buy it now than wait to the same part to end in an auction or go out a look around the shops for a cheaper price.

I'm finding Ebay traders are often dearer than online shops. I used to buy loads of mountain bike parts on there but now i find i can 99% of the time find things cheaper elsewhere. Still have a look though just in case - as you say, you occasionally get lucky.

It gives you an idea of price, but Ive always found local suppliers much much cheaper plus if its wrong you can take it back, which is worth paying more for not the reverse.

I wont use e-bay now. Wife wanted new slide and swing set for the kids, the wooden type with log cabin etc... was watching several on e-bay and a six year old one went for £400 and you can buy new ones on line fron manufature at £319 which were £699!! e-bay is becoming a market place for over prices goods.

I will soon be needing loads of parts for my car and as yet have not found anything on e-bay worth buying so I will post in wanted section.....
