Hi all,

What temp does your water guage show when driving in traffic, mine went up to 110 the other day in my westy blade. Mind you it was a very hot day.

Should i be looking at fitting an overife swith for the fan?

Mine will sit all day at around 92, however I have seen it pop up to 100 after she is switched off (water pump might be switched off?).
I've never seen it up at 110.
Might be worth you while checking if your radiator is heating up properly, if not check your thermostat works.

Will have a look at it this week, the fan does come on for sure. Maybe the guage is reading wrong?

Driving around it sits at 80 to 90 but it was just in traffic it went a bit hot!!

I will be fitting a switch to so i can turn the fan on when i want aswell as it coming on using the thermostat.

On sunday dam hot day, drove to halifax from doncaster and temp stated around 85 whilst driving and topped out at around 97 when stuck in traffic.

Could it could be an air lock in the system possibly, or a bent pipe restricting flow?
Ive got a fan override switch which keeps things nicely at around 85c when in traffic, so Id definitely recommend installing one.

Any ideas how i go about installing an overide switch, ive never done anything like this before!!!

I will check for air locks tonight.

Usually the temperature sensor that switches it on makes a contact to earth when it reaches a certain temperature. To test just earth the wire that goes to the temp sensor in the radiator and see if the fan switches on. If so, all you need to do is run another wire in parallel (of suitable ampage) with a switch in it and going to earth, then when you make the connection, it earths out and the fan kicks in.

I forgot to mention regarding the bleeding, you might know about it but I didnt know until I read the Haynes Manual - there's a small bleed screw on the water pump which allows you to bleed that part of the system more easily
