Max temperatures for blade engines
marmot0 - 3/6/10 at 10:08 AM

Hi,
What temperatures are people seeing for blade engines (cbr 954), not worried about on trackwith good airflow see no more than about 83 deg. But sitting in traffic getting 95 deg could be nore when the weather warms up.
Cheers

Not CBR but on my R1 the thermofan cuts in at 105deg using the standard sender. I have fitted an override so that I can switch it on earlier.

The test is whether the fan can cool it sufficiently. I have been in the south of france and italy with temps approaching 40 deg and the fan has kept temps to low 90s.

I don't know the 954 at all but that doesn't sound bad at all for a bike engine.

Anyway, should you not be worried about heat on the grid rather than the road by now Chap?

I have a 954 blade engine in my Indy, have seen temp go up to 99deg in traffic during hot weather (scotland 25deg!)

Don't. know about 954 blade, but for 919, according to Haynes manual, thermostat is fully open at 95, fan cuts in at 97 to 102.
